If you have Indefinite Leave to Remain, they can't deny you for being unemployed.

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)

Sorry if this is off topic, but is driving Instructor still allowed to be a referee for Form AN citizenship but no longer allowed to be a countersignatory for British Passport?

Thanks in advance.

I am in a similar situation regarding proof of residency where I have gaps in the last 5 years where I wasn't working/benefits/education for 90+ days. Having researched I am quite sure that bank accounts don't count as proof of residency.

Re: Unsuccessful applications

Finally got a reply from HO. My reconsideration has been successful after an 8-month battle. I can't believe that the HO employs such a an incompetent bunch of people (caseworkers), who don't even know the definition of a conviction/ non custodial sentence. Worse, the HO provides such a bad quality...

Re: Unsuccessful applications

Yes I did. They said it affects my "good character requirements" lol They took your £1k and banned you for 10 years for a congestion charge (that you declared too)? There are no words. It's actually frightening to the ppl applying since they might nitpick whatever they can get their hands on as a r...

Re: proving residency

Coming back to this thread since this is the last hurdle before applying (I think) and I want to make sure. Regarding the electoral roll, those who are not eligible to vote need to be declared on the form (as well as those who do), if I remember correctly. Are you sure? http://www.experian.co.uk/con...

Re: Does Jobseeker's allowance affect applying British citiz

They can't refuse you if you have ILR for taking benefits. In an ironic twist, not being on benefits whilst also not having a job is actually worse! As being on benefits provides a bulletproof proof of residence. Trying to take the higher moral ground and not trying to be a "leech" as society/media ...

Re: How NCS works question

It has one more advantage(to me its the only one) that they copy your documents and give you the originals back.... Correct me if i am wrong. I believe this is the case and one the pluses of using NCS. As well as a buffer for queries, they don't offer "advice" but they can double check something. A...

Sorry I can't help but I'm just curious, was it a Standard police check or the extended Police check?

I just find it weird how a conviction won't show up. Also don't trust what some random cop says "yea It'll be alright. . ."/

They ask strange questions that the average person wouldn't know straight away and right out of the left field like " father's, mother's place of birth". Really? Like right down to the town. Their marriage date. :? Also. . . "What are your full names? Spell them backwards from last to first." There'...

Re: proving residency

I think you have to be a citizen to be able to vote/on the electoral register ~:) Since I came under my parents passport in the 80's I never had one. Before 1989 children didn't need one iirc, so never got one until 2003. My latest passport I got from June 2013. This is my second passport. My first ...

proving residency

I have ILR since 1984, also have refugee status. Never left the country except for a day trip to France in the early 1990's during a school trip. As I understand it, you do not prove residency using payslips, you need to show your residency permit stamps on your passport ( work permit, T1, T2, HSMP....

Hmm, didn't know there was added "risks" depending on how you acquired citizenship. If you're not born British from a BC parents than you have less "protection". Not that I want to sound like a lawyer to a defendant or anything.
