Re: Will ILR status be online only from next year?

It will be digital. That is all we know, the same information available to everyone on the UKVI website. More information will become available later next year. Until then, we don't know. Thank you. Yes, just concerned because when I fly back to the UK, I'm always asked for a BRP/visa. I'm unsure a...

Re: Will ILR status be online only from next year?

BRPs are only issued with validity till the end of 2024. A new digital proof of status system will be introduced possibly from early 2024. After the end of 2024, all BRPs will be phased out and that system will exclusively be used for proof of your status instead of a BRP, probably via an app simil...

Will ILR status be online only from next year?

Reading that all biometric permits will be replaced with evisas. How will a person be able to provide proof when flying to the UK from abroad? I've always been asked for physical visa or permit.

Indian High Commission lost UK Naturalisation Certificate- how to get replacement?

My brother applied for OCI and renounced Indian citizenship when he got BC recently. He had to send his original naturalisation certificate, Indian passport and surrender certificate. For some reason, even though he paid for secure delivery, the naturalised certificate and passport didn't arrive. On...

Re: Missing information in detailed SAR. Need help.

Then you have no choice but take it again, it's £50 but at least you can progress your application. Trying yo correct past Home Office records, if at all possible, could be a lengthy exercise. I could be wrong because this HO FOI response is from 2016 but it might be possible to not have to take th...

Also, he was in our home country during the COVID outbreak, returning after almost a year in April 2021.
Will this lead to problems under 'future intentions'?

Re: Referees' forms signed before or after date of submission?

"Do you have a previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain where you had to prove your knowledge of English?" Yes ILR is fine. Also, there is a question in the form about Identity Cards. Our country does not provide any ID cards in addition to the passport, but there is a tax card. Should he ...

Hi,

How do we generally receive approval for British Naturalisation- email or post or both?
I received an email. I did not receive anything by physical post.
I understand that is how most people receive it.
What about people who are refused? Do they typically receive a letter?

Referees' forms signed before or after date of submission?

I've been supporting my brother with his application and the forms to be completed by the referees haven't come up anywhere on the application yet. I'm guessing these will be next after the payment page? I have two questions: Do the forms have to be signed and dated before the application date or af...

The BRP that was issued after ILR was approved expires in 2024. How much in advance can we apply for a replacement? What are the waiting times like? Confusion over profession ('other' option contains students and voluntary workers)

Hello, My brother is disabled so I filled his form for him, as he wants to become a British citizen. He is unable to work due to his disability and was forced to quit his job, but he has been studying (just a couple of online courses), and undertook some volunteer work. I had ticked 'no' on the form...

Re: Does the professional referee have to be based in the UK?

Thank you.
Would a CIPD professional count?

Also, on the pages for passport applications, it says that doctors can't sign unless they know the patient very well, and not just in a professional capacity. Does this apply to naturalization as well?

Re: Employment history

My brother was working for over a decade in the UK, before he had to quit work due to disability. No, there is no emp...

Re: Does the professional referee have to be based in the UK?

I don’t think that they restrict a professional referee ’s location? Hi Vinny, Thank you for your reply. I noticed that the form actually only provides the option for city and post code, and not country, which made me wonder if the expectation is that the person should be in the UK. Also, would a C...

Re: Does the professional referee have to be based in the UK?

The reason that I ask is that my brother, who wants to apply for citizenship, knows professionals from the list in our home country. I would think since application is in ref for BC, would be right for such referee to be in the UK. Stand to becorrected In the UK, he only knows a doctor who is a fam...

Does the professional referee have to be based in the UK?

In the UK, he only knows a doctor who is a family friend, but it is not clear whether doctors can be referees.

Re: Can a doctor (not one's GP) who knows you personally be a referee?

Thank you. I've found some posts suggesting that employment is needed at the time of application, that's why I wondered. Same thing regarding doctors as people give mixed advice regarding this. Is there place on the form to explain that the doctor has known us personally for decades?

Can a doctor (not one's GP) who knows you personally be a referee?

Hello, I had written about my brother's disability here and that he got ILR a few years ago. He can't work due to his illness, but from what I understand, not being able to work is not grounds for refusal of citizenship? We are trying to help him with his application but there is a problem regarding...
