I have a UK national friend who has 5 year withdrawal agreement card for Belgium, who would like to move to Netherlands to have more contact with her NL citizen minor children living there with their father. I'm English, We live in France and my Thai/Chinese wife has a 5 year article residence card, which expired last year. She still does short term work for an international company and is having to rely on Recepisse's to travel to Europe as after 9 months they are still processing the renewal of that c...

UK in France getting French Nationality - wifes art 10 card?

More Brexit problems. I'm a British citizen living in France(15 years) now with my non-EU (Thai) wife and step-son. My wife wants me to apply French nationality rather than permanent residency, even though we are currently think of moving to another EU country - we will keep French house anyway. My ...

Re: Moving from France to Germany with art 10 card

He's been skipping back and forth - doing 9 months in Thailand and then 4 in France say - it's delayed is graduation by a bit, bute he finished 3 years ago. He's just had to go back for almost a year purely because we were running out of money, we have some saved up again now. His French isn't good ...

Re: Moving from France to Germany with art 10 card

Stepson is now 26 - he was under 21 when he first got the RC so could come as my dependant - also I was earning more then, Brexit and the fall in the pound after, crashed my business that was selling stuff back to the UK online. Moving from France to Germany with art 10 card

I'm a British citizen living in France with my non-EU (Thai) wife and step-son. After many years of struggling to get their professional qualifications( they are both doctors) recognized here we are thinking of moving to Germany where the procedures are much simpler - preferably before Brexit compli...

Returning from Asia to France via UK with EU 10 card

I'm British, but have lived in France for 15 years now, so have EAA rights. I'm currently spending 6 months in Thailand with my Stepson who has an Eu article 10 residence card. We are thinking of returning to France via the UK, so he can take a professional test there(PLAB). Now I know in theory we ...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

................. As you've said, it should be business as usual until the referendum. Then, if the vote is to remain in the EU, I believe ECOs and IOs will act upon the clarifications - unless they start acting on them beforehand. I wouldn't be surprised if the clarifications were issued regardles...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

I'll agree too, that there is a lot of uninformed speculation on this thread which maybe upsetting people. On the other hand I feel this thread performs a useful function in giving people somewhere to discuss these things. One of the problems with forums, like democracy, is that everyone is allowed ...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

@Richard W Ah OK,I understand your logic now - I still don't agree with it though. You are making the assumption that there will be no changes to UK law if these changes go through. As of now the ‘family of a settled person’ visa is not available to EEA citizens (apparently even if they have permane...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

Yes, but they did not say "already illegally resident " so the current wording also catches those who have never been resident - so if you go work in a country outside the EU, meet someone there, you can't automatically return with them. My own theory is they have left the wording a little vague so ...

In this page you'll be able to find an explanation of the proposed changes. https://www.jcwi.org.uk/blog/2016/02/22/uk-eu-referendum-negotiations-%E2%80%93-what-has-been-agreed-and-what-does-mean-migration I keep this point: 'The changes as put forward are unlikely to impact EU citizens who can dem...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

For example, a Frenchman moving with his non-EU spouse spouse to the UK would have to come in on the points-based system, and an Englishman moving to France would need a work permit. There are no changes to free movement for the EU spouse - it's the non-EU partner would have to comply with local la...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

Please clarify how the supposed changes would affect an EU citizen who lives in the US and married an american. The EU spouse has never lived in Europe. Would the couple still be able to move together to any EU country (in our case Ireland) under movement rights? If the US spouse has never lived in...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

......... what happens if its BREXIT vote to leave the eu will the 5yr residence card issued in the uk be taken away? It's very, very unlikely, conceivably possible, but if we get to that point I'm not even sure the UK is a country I would want to live in. So far it's always been principal that rig...

Type of RC after Surinder Singh

We are planning on returning to the UK using Surinder Singh - My family already have Article 10 cards. Is significant to us as we have French property we intend ...

Looking at that guidance he will need to remain a dependant relative when we come to the UK. I'm unsure what happens if he ceases to be a dependant relative after we arrive. Is there a time he must remain a dependant relative before he starts to look for work to get his RC? What happens if he wants ...

UK RC for over 21 stepson as dependant relative

We are thinking of using Surinder Singh to return to the UK soon, when my stepson finishes university. Both he and my wife current have 5 year article 10 RCs from France and I've lived here for over 10 years so center of life should not be a problem. I'm wondering what evidence we will need to show ...

Under directive 2004/38/EU - 2008/38/EU seems to be about animal feedstuffs ? Got a short term schengen visa from the French Embassy in Bangkok then applied for her article 10 card ( carte du Sejour ) when she arrived here. Took almost a year for them to process. My opinion was that although it's a ...

Re: 5 year article 10 visa, using to work in another country

That was pretty much my reasoning - as regards the +90 days it says - Those who are employed or self-employed do not need to meet any other conditions. It doesn't say you need to be employed by a business in that country - you could be posted there by a company in your home country for instance. I w...
