Miscellany of questions

Post by bumblebee » Tue Sep 11, 2007 4:34 am

hi all,
I am in search for answers to these questions, and hopefully someone can provide me some answers;

Q1: Is Holidaymaker Visas still open to Malaysians?
Q2: Whilst entering UK as a visitor/tourist, can we find Work permit jobs?

I apologise if my questions sounds daft.
Thanks.

Q1: I don't know
Q2: You can go for interviews etc, but you can't switch the visa in-country.

A1. No need to ask here. Check the British High Commission website in Malaysia, they should have information for Malaysian nationals. A five second search indicates that Malaysian nationals can apply for the WHM: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Front ... 8721068240 Please also read the rules on this weblink. You question isn't daft but the answer was already on the government websites, if you had searched there first?

A2. You can apply for jobs and attend interviews, but if you are successful and your employer wants to apply for a work permit for you, you will have to return home and apply from entry clearance from Malaysia. That is, you cannot 'switch' from a visitor to a worker whilst in the UK.

You can switch from working holidaymaker to work permit if you have been in the UK for over 12 months and the work permit has been issued for a shortage skill position.
