MN1 Online application for 4 month old baby

Post by kenny_2020 » Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:32 am

Hi all,

I want to apply online for registration (MN1) of my daughter. She was born in UK in July 2020. I am an Indian national and was granted my ILR in August 2020. My wife is also an Indian national on Tier 2 dependent visa.

While filling the online MN1 form I encountered some questions:

1) The first question the online portal asks is "Who does this email belong to? (a) The applicant (b) An immigration adviser based in the UK (c) Someone else" --> I assume this is (c) since I am applying for my daughter. Is that correct?

2) The applicant (daughter) is asked for email address, phone number --> Obviously she does not have this. Can I just provide mine instead?

3) The postal address for 5 years is asked. Since she is only 4 months old there are no older addresses. Since the online form has built-in validation it does not allow the application to proceed ahead. Any suggestions on how this can be solved? Should I provide my own address for the last 5 years?

4) The portal asks for my daughter's "Country of nationality". What would be the right answer here since she does not have an Indian passport (both me and wife are Indian) nor is she registered with the Indian embassy?

5) I am not able to provide a health visitor or GP as referee. Can one referee be a colleague of mine who holds ILR?

6) Since I am unable to provide a GP/Health visitor as referee, I need to provide a cover letter explaining the reason for this (as I understand by reading other responses on this forum). Can someone please share the template of this cover letter?

7) The online checklist says I need to attach the referee declarations but I am not sure where I can find them. Does anyone know where I can find these declarations?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kenny

Choose “applicant.” HO knows the parent is applying on behalf of the child

2) The applicant (daughter) is asked for email address, phone number --> Obviously she does not have this. Can I just provide mine instead? Yes

3) The postal address for 5 years is asked. Since she is only 4 months old there are no older addresses. Since the online form has built-in validation it does not allow the application to proceed ahead. Any suggestions on how this can be solved? Should I provide my own address for the last 5 years?
Select yes to living at the same address for 5 years. HO knows child is only 4 months.

4) The portal asks for my daughter's "Country of nationality". What would be the right answer here since she does not have an Indian passport (both me and wife are Indian) nor is she registered with the Indian embassy?
Select Indian. Many have selected “Indian” and are successful. This question will have no impact on child’s registration

5) I am not able to provide a health visitor or GP as referee. Can one referee be a colleague of mine who holds ILR?
Read page 9/10 https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... 1.0EXT.pdf

6) Since I am unable to provide a GP/Health visitor as referee, I need to provide a cover letter explaining the reason for this (as I understand by reading other responses on this forum). Can someone please share the template of this cover letter?
No template. Simply explain in your own words

7) The online checklist says I need to attach the referee declarations but I am not sure where I can find them. Does anyone know where I can find these declarations?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Cullinan for the quick reply.

For referees, I have a small followup question. I have 2 referees: 1st one is a British citizen and professional and 2nd one is an ILR holder and a professional. Will using the ILR holder person as referee suffice OR do I need to have both referees as British Citizens?

Additionally, the Referee declaration form states that on the backside of the photo we write the full name and Date of birth of the applicant and glue that on the form?? How is that useful since no one can see it anyway? Or have I read it wrongly.

Follow the Adult criteria as per the referee form with an explanation in the cover letter as per the guidance stated above.
For an adult application, one referee should be a person of any nationality who has professional standing, eg minister of religion, civil servant, or a member of a professional body e.g. accountant or solicitor (who is not representing you with this application).
For all applications, the second referee must normally be the holder of a British citizen passport and either a professional person or over the age of 25.
Referee forms are not updated after the system was shifted to online. Follow the instructions and keep originals safe. HO may ask for originals in very rare cases.
