MN1 registration with no passport from home country

Post by saadmansakib » Sat Oct 25, 2025 12:55 pm

Hello,

We are applying for my child's MN1 registration. Our child is a bit more than 5 months old and was born in the UK. Our child currently has a UK birth certificate showing both of the child's parents names. The parents are legally married in the UK and have acquired valid UK Settled immigration status after the child's birth.

We did not have any travel plans and as such we did not apply for the child's passport from the child's home country. Our home country does not issue National Identity card under 18 years old. Therefore, the child has a UK birth certificate only.

Questions:

1. Is a UK birth certificate showing both of the child's parents names enough to establish the child's identity?

2. Will TLS allow us to complete her biometrics appointment without her home country passport?

I am attaching the list of supporting documents that our child's MN1 registration is asking for and also attaching the relevant screenshot from the MN1 guidance for caseworker.

Please let us know, thank you in advance! Forever grateful for this.

Yes, as it states in the guidance, the full birth certificate will be OK.
