Most appropriate answer to the recruiters regarding HSMP

Post by ShoaibJaved » Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:20 am

Hi all,
Its been two weeks since I have actively started looking for job. I have had many calls from recruiters and almost 60 percent of them get stuck at my status in UK. They do not know about HSMP and are not willing to get into its details (or believe what I tell them abouts its procedure).
And the duration of one year leads them into thinking that this is a short term visa and again unwillingnes to consider for jobs of permanent nature.

Could anyone tell me the most appropriate answer to satisfy the recruiter or potential employer regarding the length of the Visa period.

regards,
Shoaib Javed

Say -"I have working rights in the UK - (renewable after 1 year subject to being employed/economic activity)"

rephrase to suit
Where there is a will there is a way.

I have been through this all through my 1st year. I have done my best trying to explain the structure of the VISA highlighting the fact that it is an Immigration Visa leading to settlement but to no avail. I had to temporary jobs for the 1st year. My experience has been that they only go by the expiry date. Now with with a 3 year extension employers are giving me a better response. Also I had come in when the threshold was 75 points and there were not many HSMP holders in UK so there was no awareness among the recruiters. Maybe now with so many people getting this visa easily and coming to UK the awareness may increase. So just keep telling them it is an extendable immigration visa leading to settlement, you may get lucky with a recruiter.
