Mother EU citizen, son US citizen in UK Please Help!

I am EU citizen and my son is US citizen. I was stupidly unaware that I have to get clearance for my 6 y.o. son to stay in UK permanently. We came from Latvia and I intend to stay here with my son and obvously want him attending school. I have NI number and steady employment. I don't know where to turn and what exactly to do in order to ensure my son's legal stay in UK after 6 month are over. Can you help?!
All info from Home Ofice and US embassy is downright scary! I hope my son cannot be deported as he is my dependant. Any info wouldd be greatly appreciated

If you are Latvian, then can your son not also get a Latvian passport?
