Moving to UK - Customs

Hi there,

I am reading online that the maximum amount of goods one can bring is GBP 390 , https://www.gov.uk/duty-free-goods/arri ... ide-the-eu

Is this true for someone moving there as I believe my one single item (laptop) or phone is worth more than this, but I don't want to pay duties and customs for my old clothes/socks? etc

I am not understanding this law maybe, can someone shed more light on this?
