Moving from spousal to skilled workers visa help!

Post by Altruistic_Dark7853 » Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:33 am

Hi there,

I am currently on a spousal visa and living in the Channel Islands. It's looking like my partner and I may split up, so I am looking into additional routes. I currently have a business license for the Channel Islands and am a sole trader (managing director, founder) for my company, where I mentor and consult within the UX space.

I've been trying to figure out what UK visa would be applicable for me to continue living/working in the Channel Islands, but am just going around in circles. I've looked at the global talent visa, as I've been in my field for ten years, but I'm not sure if I meet all the requirements. And I have seen a skilled workers visa isn't for sole traders.

I'm getting a bit concerned as to how hard this will be, and it's making my head spin a bit in an already difficult time. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

There's no easy way for you, unfortunately.
How long have you been living in the UK?

You can try to go through the process while you're still on spouse visa and in relationship - if it fails, you will fallback to a spouse visa that you hold.
