I have one more question.. what is the diffirence between Multiple entry work permit and the normal work permit. If I dont apply for MEWP, does it mean I cant leave UK for the duration my work permit is valid??

Multiple Entry Work Permit (MEWP)

1. Issued to people who regularly travel to the UK to work for a UK based company but are not themselves based/ considered as ordinarily resident in the UK. Most people on these WP's are here for 2-4 weeks durations.

2. Valid for two years maximum.

3. No extension possible.

4. Cannot be accompanied by dependents unless they apply to come on their own basis e.g. visitor.

5. Does not count towards ILR.


Standard Work Permit (SWP)

1. Issued to those working in the UK for UK based employer.

2. Valid for 5 years maximum

3. Renewable

4. Allows dependents

5. Counts towards ILR - after 4 years.

6. Can enter/ reside in the UK any time (multiple) during its validity.
