Name correction on Naturalisation Certificate

Post by mailtonsridhar » Tue Nov 12, 2024 11:19 am

Hello

I got my British Citizenship approval yesterday and booked for Oath ceremony on 28th Nov. Looks like there is a spelling mistake on my British Citizenship application/certificate sent to the registrar (I had correct name on my application when submitted, but home office made a spell mistake). Now when I contacted the registrars about it, they gave me 2 options, one to go ahead with Oath ceremony on 28th and get the name corrected later, or they would send the paper work back to home office for correction and I rebook an appointment for oath ceremony. I am not sure if its easy for me to apply for correction or registrars doing it on my behalf. As I suppose I cannot go ahead and apply for British Passport with mis-spelled name on the certificate. Please advice.

Thanks

I would go with the option of booking a new ceremony when they get the corrected certificate. Much less hassle than for you to have to contact HO and get a corrected certificate.
