Name misspelled on EC

Post by kuog » Thu May 27, 2004 2:28 pm

My name is misspelled on EC .

Do I need to correct this immediately going to BC? Or Can I just leave it like that?

Will I have any trouble while landing in UK if I do not correct it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kuog.

I checked with the BC and it is not a problem. However, I am just concerned if this misspelled name is going to give me any trouble while applying for NI number or driving license or with employers.

Has any one experienced this please?

Thanks
Kuog

My name was bit different in EC stamp. I never faced any issue till now. But you have to follow the name appeared on passport, while applying for NI etc.

I'm holding second passport with EC stamps. But my name is written without a space in new passport. I never noticed that and NI people found out and holded my application.

It is advisable to return your passport to the relevant British Diplomatic Post if at all possible and get the EC corrected to reflect the true spelling of your name - it is actually standard practice at most BDP's to issue a letter saying that you should check your visa carefully for any errors and for the correct validity. Correcting your name will eliminate any potential problems in the future when applying for official/financial documentation e.g. National Insurance Number, Driving Licence, bank accounts, credit cards and of course jobs. I have seen people have to get affidavits explaining that they were born as A and name B is mispelt.
