UK NARIC and P800 UNDERPAID TAX FOR NATURALISATION

Post by icandy1234 » Fri Aug 07, 2015 2:00 pm

Dear all,

Firstly, I am an undergraduate studying Nursing in London and a spouse to a British citizen, I have Access to Nursing diploma from a college here in UK and I have GSCE equivalence from the same college, I am planning to get a UK NARIC equivalence for my first degree (BSc) from outside the UK but I do not know if I still need to sit the B1 CEFR Exam to proof my knowledge of English Language? I passed the Life in UK test about 3 years ago when I applied for ILR.

Secondly, I used to work full time but I resigned to pursue a degree so I only work when I have time off. HMRC sent me a P800 stating that I am owing £700, I have made arrangement with them paying through direct debit every month. My question is I want to apply for Naturalisation but I am worried I could be refused due to this underpaid tax which I am paying monthly. There is no way I could clear this at once and I still have like 10 months of payment to go.

Has anyone applied for naturalisation under these circumstances please? Any information will be useful.

Many thanks on advance.

It shouldn't do as you're paying it back but if need be, add a covering letter to explain it and that you are making repayment towards it via direct debit...possibly show the last payment or two by including bank statement.

Don't know what else to suggest really!

It wont effect your citizenship application and no need to include any cover letter to explain to bring unnecessary attention to caseworker.
P800 is sent when you finished one job and started a new one in the same month and your personal allowance used in two jobs cause sometimes less tax deducted or deducted more tax sometimes due to BR tax code.
As long as you have arrangements with HMRC to pay them back you are totally in save zone.

Correct. In fact, HMRC keeps changing my tax code because one year I underpaid, they change it to take money back, then I overpaid, new tax code once again ... Rinse and repeat 8) Thats PAYE (pay as you earn) for you, which won't take change of circumstances during a tax year into account (unless notified)
