Naturalisation application - but travelling more than 90 days

Post by malvar » Mon Oct 28, 2019 2:26 pm

Hi,

My partner is going to apply for his naturalisation (ILR 1 year from Tier 2 - 5year route) this December. However, he is thinking of going abroad for 3 mos (more than 90 days) after filing his application. He'll be back early April.

We hope that the processing time and booking the ceremony will be in our favour: meaning sometime after mid-April. My question is: Can he be out of the country for more than 90 days after filing the citizenship application? We note that you can't be outside of the country for 90 days for the past year of the qualifying ILR period. But will they count the 90 days even after filing in his application?

I will be at home during the next few mos so I can probably book his citizenship ceremony for him if the approval comes while he's away.

Many thanks.

Well it should be fine. As long as you are taking the responsibility and sort the necessary.
