Dear Mr
I refer to your enquiry of 12/01/2016, regarding your application for naturalisation as a British citizen.

As I am sure you are aware, naturalisation is not an automatic process and we have to make a number of enquires before we can reach a decision on whether to grant citizenship.

One of the requirements for naturalisation, set out in nationality law, concerns good character. Good character is not further defined in nationality law, and a fairly broad view has to be taken when judging whether this requirement has been satisfied. Enquiries in this area are not limited to criminal records or to a persons activities within the united kingdom. Nor is there a limit set out in nationality law on the time taken to carry out these enquiries.

Information on the home office website makes clear that all application are subject to enquiries to ensure that prospective citizens are able to satisfy all of the statutory requirements, including that of good character. The home office routinely conducts checks with other government departments and external agencies. The extent and length of time taken to complete these check various according to the particular circumstances of each application. The progress of these checks is regularly monitored. It is only when we have the results of the checks that we can reach a decision on whether citizenship should be granted.

The home office website states that we aim to process 95% of naturalisation application within six month. It is made clear on website that in some cases application may take longer than six months to complete.

The home office Nationality Team is subject to close scrutiny, regarding the way in which we deal with citizenship application. On that basis it is in our best interests to ensure that we handle all application in accordance with the relevant law, policy and instructions.

As soon as all of the enquiries have been completed decision will be taken on your application and we will inform you of the decision immediately.
Your sincerely

Please any seniors member are requested to guess the mater if there is any hopeful dream or just a normal reply from the home
