Naturalisation application - simple questions

Post by yarons » Sun Sep 20, 2009 10:36 am

Hi

I still have a few months before my naturalisation application but I thought I'd better ask a few initial questions as this forum has proved to be very helpful in my past applications.

My status in brief:
My application will be based on 5 yrs WP+HSMP and 1 yr ILR.
I currerntly hold ILR and there isn't anything special in my case - all straightforward stuff (no extensive absences or special circumstances).

1. views on NCS vs OISC registered Consultancy: please don't treat money as a consideration as my choice will be based on effectiveness/quickness. I know that by going through NCS you get to keep your docs but is it true that NCS will get your application processed quicker than a consultancy? On the other hand, a consultancy can take care of the whole process (book your ceremony, handle passport application etc).

2. How much time in advance can/should I book an NCS appointment?

3. How much time in advance is it Ok for the referees to sign the form?

Thanks for your help
Y

Using your numbering :-
  1. As your case it straight-forward using NCS will be much more cost-effective. And although UKBA deny it, the evidence shows that applications submitted using NCS do get dealt with quicker than those posted to Liverpool. Book your ceremony? Just pick up the telephone. Handle passport application? A simple form-filling exercise once the Certificate of Naturalisation or Registration is given to you.
  2. That varies from one NCS office to another. Phone your desired NCS office and ask them.
  3. I don't think there is an guidance of this point.

In most cases NCS will be OK.

Our average case consideration time was 3 weeks for naturalization based on marriage and WP. Max - 3 months for the case when there was a number of category switching.
