Uk Naturalisation: Atlas requesting more documents

Post by macandersonuche1997 » Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:32 pm

Hi All, I applied for my British naturalisation on June 24th then on August 22nd I received an email from Atlas requesting for scanned copy of my old passport.

I sent that copy to them on the same day but I haven't received any message back from them

My question is does that mean my application would be approved soon? Since they've already started looking at it or should I started counting the 6 months from the start again?

Also is it a good idea to be sending them reminder emails every 2 days or would that work against me

Please has anyone ever been in this situation before? If so how should I react, I am just paranoid and scared.

Also is it a good idea to be sending them reminder emails every 2 days or would that work against me. If it is not ready and under 6months time you will most likely not get a response.

We don't know what stage you application is undergoing. Your six months started on June 24 therefore will elapse at the end of the year. It is a stressful wait but the best thing to do, if at all possible, is to continue with your life and think about it as little as possible.

Thanks for the response I really appreciate
Yes it's quite hard to carry on with my life because I just want to know the decision, I am not even focused on the other steps in the process just the decision

But yeah I intend to be sending a message every few days as that's all I can do right now.

As your application is still under the 6 months of standard processing times you sending messages will be of no avail. You need to wait until the 6 months have elapsed to chase - hopefully you will receive an outcome before that.

Travelling while UK Citizenship application is pending

Post by macandersonuche1997 » Sun Aug 25, 2024 8:26 am

Hello all,
I applied for my UK citizenship application on June 24th and I am looking to travel in October and November just for a week each time.

My question is, would that affect me being allowed back in? Would those times spent overseas affect my application?

Has anyone ever done something like this? If so how was their experience returning to the UK

Please keep all your queries in one thread....

Travel is ok - won't affect your application in any way - naturalisation is not an immigration application.
You are still on your ILR and days away after your application are not relevant, and you will be admitted.

Naturalisation is not an immigration application hence does not hinder you from travelling outside the UK.
You travel s normal, countless people in your shoes have done so and no problem with re-entry or the application whatsoever.

Alright thanks I have 2 other questions

1. I want to invite my partner overseas to come visit me in November/December on a visitors visa, could making that application affect my citizenship application or could my citizenship application hinder that?

2. I just received a letter from the HMRC saying I owe £3500 taxes from last financial year and should pay it by January 2025, now could that affect my application since I applied in June and as at when I applied I did not have any outstanding taxes? If so can I be paying in installments and still be fine

Visitor visas will not have any impact on your application.
Regarding taxes, are these unpaid from previous financial years or is this the calculation from 2023-2024? If the former, I would immediately make a plan to repay them as soon as possible and write to UKVI to inform them, just to be on the safe side. If the latter, still make a plan to repay them as soon as it is financially viable but should not impact your application provided you take this step.

Hi thanks
Yea its from the 2023-2024 financial year and I only received notification of the debt today 2 months after my application with a deadline of January 2025

So do I need to inform UKVI

It is not a debt yet, you have until January 2025 to pay your taxes for the last financial year. Make an arrangement to pay it with HMRC.
