Naturalisation - No job

Post by dilip_gem » Mon Oct 27, 2014 5:29 pm

Hi there,

I got my ILR earlier this year and before that I was on tier-1 visa. I was quite streessed in my last job (perm job for over 3 years), so I after getting ILR I resigned and took few months break. I had plans of starting a business or do contracting. Since the business plan didn't materialize, I decided to go contracting. Initially the contract market wasn't good, so I started attending perm job interviews as well. I had an offer 2 months ago, however I rejected it as the contracting market started improving all of a sudden and I had few interviews lined up. Unfortunately nothing materialised and now I'm struggling to find a job and bit demotivated.

I am just couple of month's away from getting eligible for naturalisation. So far I have not claimed any benefits (not even JSA) and not planning to do that. Otherday I saw naturalisation application form (which has a section related to emplyment - where I work etc). I'm not sure what should I fill there in case if I fail to find a job by then? I'm bit worried because of the bad decisions I made by rejecting a job offer.

Will they approve my application even if I'm unemplyed?

Gem

Employment is not a requirement if applying based on 5 years residence or as a spouse.
I am sometimes wrong.

Seniors tell here that job isn't a requirement for naturalization application.

But, if you insist. If Contracting then you have a company in your own name right? If not then however you do contract you can give that detail perhaps. But I would go with what seniors here have told.
Being British is a state of mind.
