Naturalisation QQ.

Post by prayforus » Tue Mar 18, 2025 9:33 pm

Hi all - it’s been a while. I have been lurking but I now wanted to make my own post.

My spouse has applied for naturalisation. Shes now awaiting biometrics.

Our checklist for uploading document's contains the following:

Her passport (every page including entry stamps/exit)
Meeting the criteria of 3 years (spouse of British citizen) to show residency - (away for 28 days in the last 12 months only) ? This should suffice ?
Trinity college b1.1 exam to meet English listing and speaking requirements
LIT UK (ref showed in application form)
2 referees
My passport (every page)

Does this seem right? No need for bills/council tax etc. we’ve also moved house since our previous ILR. Would we need to demonstrate anything here?

Furthermore, my wife entered the uk in the latter part of 2014, we had a small issue with her passport she used to enter expiring and it being kept by the country of issue on renewal. This showed the viginette (entry date) into the uk. At ILR stage this was requested, luckily we kept copies. She was granted ILR in summer 2020.

Will this be needed again for naturalisation as I remember a member stating it may.

Thanks in advance.

What were the total absences for the three years?
Documents as listed are fine.
Passport is sufficient for residency.
There's no need to prove addresses, bills or statements no required (and not normally accepted).
The original entry vignette from 2014 is not required for naturalisation - they will ask for date of entry but it doesn't have to be documented.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

It all seems OK. Upload according to the checklist, book a biometrics appointment, and hopefully the HO will give you an outcome soon.

Can anyone confirm two things:

1. Passport ID/BRP is all to be taken to the appointment for biometrics. As we self uploaded the rest of the documents.

2. Did BRP need to be uploaded as a document submission, as we input the details into the application, e/visa?

Sorry could not edit in time to make it clear.

We inputted the I.D no: of the BRP, however it has been expired since end of December last year as the HO moved over to E-VISA. The form did not ask for a share code as such for the E-VISA.

We have not uploaded a copy of the BRP as the checklist did not ask for one. Is It required?

Not having a great day today am I?

Submitted all the documents so cannot upload anymore. Realised the referee forms do not have applicant name filled in, but photo and details of referee such as name, signature and date are.

Where do we stand with this? Pay the ££ to upload the forms with the name filled in, or leave it and hope for the best?

We also inputted national ID card details on the application form for her home country I.D is it wise to also upload this?

Thank you for your reply. We have paid the £50, and moved the date forward. Are they able to remove the old referee forms? Or would 2 sets be submitted?

I did double check in this thread regarding supporting docs but nobody mentioned BRP is a must, neither did the checklist state it.

BRP is proof of your ILR status, as you need to upload the referee forms anyway, why not.

There will be two sets of referee forms, but you can explain this in a cover note, and even if you don't the caseworker will be able to see what is the correct set of forms.

It makes sense.

Regarding the referee forms it’s just missing the name on the applicant name bit. I am hoping the caseworker will be fine with the revised versions with the name.

Worst case scenario is they ask to resubmit using 2 different referees?

I doubt they will ask you to resubmit if you upload the correct versions. Caseworkers review all documents and will pick up on a simple mistake.

I am hoping this is the case.
