Naturalisation Residency Requirement

Post by tier1natur » Wed Mar 11, 2020 1:44 pm

Dear all

I came to the UK on a student visa in Sep 2014 (expiry date 31 Jan 2016) and returned home on 30 Jan 2016 for applying as an entrepreneur. The application was made on 12 Feb 2016 and got the visa on the 20th. As part of accelerated settlement, got my ILR on 14 Feb 2019. Question is for british citizenship, can i apply now or do I need to wait one more year? Does the time as student count as residence or the break of 12-13 days approx causes the clock to reset?

Regards

You will have to wait one year from the date ILR is granted, unless you are married to a British citizen. In that case you could apply immediately if you meet the requirements. Not sure about your other question, however the residency period must be whole I believe.
