Naturalisation: SAR missing inbound Eurostar trips, can this be a problem?

Post by XavierGold » Thu Nov 20, 2025 1:56 am

Hi,

I’m a EU citizen (so no passport stamps) preparing my naturalisation application. I have a SAR from a few years ago showing my travel history, and it’s missing several inbound Eurostar trips (EU -> UK, pre-2021). The outbound journeys appear, but not the returns. Apparently it’s not uncommon for rail trips.

The main missing one is the one just before the beginning of the qualifying period for citizenship.

I do have a list of all absence dates, booking emails for the missing trips, HMRC records, tenancy and bank evidence, and I’m well within the absence limits.

My question is:

Can missing inbound Eurostar entries on Home Office records cause issues for naturalisation? Has anyone had this and still been approved?

Also, I am not sure whether to mention the SAR gaps or just list my absences normally?

Thanks.

Whar HMRC records are you referring to? the rest is not accepted evidence for naturalisation

My question is:

Can missing inbound Eurostar entries on Home Office records cause issues for naturalisation? Has anyone had this and still been approved? it will most likely be ok

Also, I am not sure whether to mention the SAR gaps or just list my absences normally? you can comment in a cover letter

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify:

no problem as it is before the qualifying period starts.
The concern is that it never shows me coming back to the UK after my last departure in September 2020 until I leave again the country in October 2021 for a couple of days, so it could put into doubt the fact that I was in the UK five years prior to the application.

This is the pattern my SAR shows:

- September 2020: exit

- October 2021: exit then entry two days later

There is a missing December 2020: entry.

It doesn't matter, because you will supply your trips with correct dates. HO is aware that not all records are complete.

If you want to be extra safe, submit a letter from your employer if you were employed at the time.
