Naturalization eligibility

Post by EL64 » Mon May 26, 2025 2:16 pm

Hi,

I have a question regarding my naturalization application and would appreciate it if you could help me.

I arrived in the UK on 04 October 2020 on a Tier 2 (General) visa. I switched to a Global Talent visa in 2023, and my ILR application was approved on 12 March 2024. It has now been more than 12 months since I received my ILR, and I would like to apply for naturalization. My question is about this requirement: "Have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years before you apply."

Do you think I am eligible, given that I haven't yet lived in the UK for 5 years?

Thanks,

You need to have 5 years of residence in the UK before you can apply for citizenship, unless you are married to a British citizen. You will become eligible on the 04 October 2025, only a few months left to wait.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
