Naturalization question?

Post by Natalie » Sat Oct 15, 2005 10:59 am

I am going to apply for citizenship next month and I have one question. Of course I would appreciate if someone can answer me. The question is about the ILR letter. Apart from ILR stamp in my passport I've just got the letter with some text about ILR, some stuff that now I can work freely etc. but that letter does not have my name on it or ILR number or anything similar, simply anyone can make a copy of that letter because there is no any personal information on it. Or maybe you have different kind of ILR letter?

Thanks in advance

Natalie, supply that letter, and don't worry about it. IND stopped personalising those letters some time ago.

It is of course a fact that your ILR visa exists not just in your passport but also in the IND computer system. It is very reasonable to expect IND to check that record as part of what it does before agreeing naturalisation. (note the spelling of naturalisation!)
