nature of duty.......

Hi all,

It is a bit strange thing i would like to discuss in this forum. I have been employed by a company as Engineer. But due to delay in getting project approval presently my work load is very less. Almost daily 4 to 5 hrs i am free. It is also hard for me to sit without much work. I have told my operational Director that i want to keep myself busy. He also said , please bear with us.

But recently he has requested me, if i don't mind to do some formulations jobs ( nothing but mixing few components) due to lots of people on christmes holiday in that department. But i told him Yes. But somehow , i feel guilty to do that job.

Can any one give mature opinion on my issue. Is it advisable to do whatever work availbale to do? or Strict to only work, i have been employed for ? Always it is a possibilty to change the employer but being new to UK and without HSMP extension i dont want do that. Also i am worried about my image with other people in the company. I am totally confused abt this issue.

Can anyone comment on my confusion/ give me some thoughts please.

just a question there, are you on WP or HSMP? if HSMP then you should be able to all those things you are talking bout (working in another dept. changing employer etc) but if on WP you might have some restrictions
