Need advice

Post by Apprentice7 » Mon May 23, 2011 3:13 pm

Hi,

Need suggestion from experienced members here.

I have Tier-1 Visa till next year end.

I planned to quit current job and travel in July to UK. But meanwhile my current oragnisation has promised me that if I stay back for few more months(as I am yet to complete 1.5 yrs as per L1 rules) , then they will process my L1.this is a written assurance.

I have two options now:

1.To travel to UK as per the previus plan and look for a job personally in which has risk.

2.To stay back in the current organisation, wait and try my luck in L1(as L1 rejections are too high currently).

I dont hav country preferences as of now but I feel better to travel abroad from my present organisation as this does not involve risk of quitting a good job and then searching for new one in a foreign country. But L1 rejections is a concern.

pls help me in choosing right option, I am really in a very tough time now

L1 - as in US visa?

I am no expert when it comes to US immigration, but I suppose the question you have to answer is where you want to be?

Some considerations also from your side (this is from someone who only understands UK politics, rules & direction):

1. UK is clamping down on immigration - you can look at this either from a point of view of grab the opportunity while you have the chance, or they are closing the door, so rather go to a country where you are more welcome.
2. Extension in the UK might be very difficult based on what you posted earlier. Relying on less than six months UK income could be risky if your earnings before entering the UK cannot make a significant difference for the points you will claim.
3. UK is still in recession (whether technically true or not) - jobs are not abundant and it might take a while to get something.
4. Moving costs etc should also be taken into account and the ease of relocating your family if necessary.

I'm supposing you just want some points to consider rather than an answer? At the end of the day it's up to you, but its great that you have some options available to you.

yah I meant US L1 Visa, mulderpf.

I agree,as u said US and UK are strictening their visa rules a lot , closing all possible gates for immigrants. And thats why on one hand,I am concerned about wasting UK Visa period.

as i said, I did nt hav country preferences until I got this US onsite into picture.
Now when I do US vs UK --US IT Job Market is so vast unlike UK IT. I guess a big market might obviously give more scope for career growth.so if I get L1 it wud be gud, But then again getting L1 is purely luck based.

I am getting drowned in deep dilemma now

If i was you i would wait in the current company for my L1 to get processed. Becos
1. VISA extension in UK is very very difficult for you - Securing a job within six months and show fund maintenance and satisfy salary qualificationn is a very hard task.
