Post by montyb85 » Sun Jan 17, 2010 10:00 pm

good evening all,

i hope i have posted on the correct forum.

my husband has just got his visa to remain indefinite int he UK but has since run off to his wife and 2 kids who are here illegal. he has taken all the legal documents and is planning to add his children onto his passport.

we have been married civil for 2 half years and now he has left me debt and making threats that he is going to claim everything i have.

please advise on what to do next?

thank you

I'm confused...

You say you both have been " married civil" - do you mean a civil wedding or civil partnership?

Is "your husband" a polygamist? And if so had you known this before tying the knot (I believe polygamy is illegal in the UK)? Or is his other wife "the ex"?

If "your husband" obtained ILR on the basis of marriage to you or a relationship with you, but was already married to someone else, and he left you as soon as he obtained ILR, there are strong grounds for suspecting that he obtained ILR by deception. Did you know of the other woman prior to him leaving you?

You should report the entire circumstances to your nearest immigration office so that they can investigate.

Marrying someone without divorcing previous partner first can be grounds for marriage annulment, i.e. your marriage will be deemed as never taken place. This might lead to ILR revocation.
