Do I need to make a separate ILR application for dependent child over 18?

I got my ILR status a few months ago. Now, I am going to apply for the ILR for my wife and two children. They all have been living with me for the last five years on dependent visas. My last visa was Skilled Worker (initially it was Tier-2 General but later changed to Skilled Worker when I switched my job).

One of the two children turned 18 this year. She is single, not working anywhere, and not living independently. Do I need to make a separate application for her or I can add her to my wife's application?

Yes. A separate SET(O) application is appropriate

As an aside, note that after she gets ILR, her dependent status is at an end, as she was only a dependent for the purposes of the immigration pathway, which ends at ILR.

In order to become a British citizen, she will need to naturalise, meeting the same requirements and conditions as you (one year from date of ILR wait, absences, physical presence, LITUK, English language test, etc).

In that case (i.e. a separate application for my daughter), how should the applications (one application for my wife and son and a separate application for my daughter) be clubbed? I have this doubt because I am not sure if there is a requirement that both parents must have ILR before the child can get the ILR.

You do not need to do anything special. Just apply separately and UKVI will figure out the rest

It is just to inform you that my and my dependents' ILRs were approved successfully. A huge thanks to you guys! You not only provided me with the required information but also guided me in the right direction.

Here is the summary:

• I applied separately as soon as I became eligible (28 days less than 5 years).

• Since my dependents joined me after three months; therefore, they applied after three months.

• My daughter was 13 years 6 months when she joined me in the UK and thus she became 18+ at the time of ILR application. She applied separately as a dependent i.e. my wife added only my son in her application and my daughter submitted a separate application.

• Since both parents are required to have ILR before the children can get the ILR, my wife and my daughter booked the same date and timeslot for the appointment. Although there were two separate applications, they were processed together at the same desk.

• We booked 'Priority Service' for all the applications.
