need urgent help

Post by OLASAN2 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 1:52 pm

Hello All,
I need advise for my sister's boyfriend. They have been together for 5yrs and have two lovely kids, aged 2+ and 7mths.My sis. was married before and divoiceed now before start dating this guy.
Now the issue is, this guy is an overstayer in the uk, came into the uk in 1997 to study but along the line he dropped out of Uni,and since then leaving in the uk illegelly,he had his student visa renewed till 2000.My sis is a british citizen and she had one child from the previous marriage he is 8yrs old.Is there any way this guy can apply for leave to remain in the UK?without going back to his conutry(NIGERIA)?Putting into considration he had stayed here for long and with the family!

You posted this in the wrong forum. And the title is not very informative.

That said, I do not know information which will help you.

Hi There, in this case i do believe there's some law who has changed to help some of people as the same situation as this poor man.

just to let you know if he entered the UK under visa and can proove that he lived here for a period of 7 years he needs to provide some documents of course and need to apply with a solicitor, i do believe that he is allowed to get the ILR, I know some people who got it 3 years ago.
