New Form AN - Help for English Language Query

Post by ramsahay » Tue Jun 23, 2015 10:38 pm

I have an ILR from June 2010 and since have been living in UK.
Now, I have finally decided to take UK citizenship. I was going through the latest AN form (v05) wherein I am confused about the English language test requirement

I have done a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBM) from India (in English Language). I have been to the points based calculator (https://www.points.h...ssessment.faces) that gives me the 10 points for English language. My logic and information says that I need to provide the original degree along with the print out of the calculator for the English language.

If above is correct and acceptable, I am not sure how do I fill the latest AN form and which option do I choose? If I choose the following option

"I have a speaking and listening qualification in English at B1 CEFR or higher, or an equivalent level qualification (Go to question 1.23)"

then it asks me to go to 1.23 where I have to choose where did i give the "home office list of approved test"

or if i choose the following option:

"I have obtained an academic qualification deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the United Kingdom and:"

then I have to additionally choose one of the following option:

i. UK NARIC has confirmed that the qualification was taught or researched in English; or
ii. the qualification was taught or researched in the UK or a majority English speaking country (other than Canada);

It seems from the options above that I have to either go to UK NARIC for assessment or sit for the exam.

On the other hand, the guide which comes along with the form clearly states that the English language requirement can be met with the following:

Your original degree certificate and one of the following:
16
1. A print out from the points-based calculator, with the equivalent level of your degree and the level of English

I am a bit confused with the whole thing and was wondering if its possible to submit with points based calculator and more importantly which option to chose while filling the form for the same.

This might due to the new form that has been put in place recently but any help in this regard will be appreciated

Thanks

Q1.23 only applies if you submit an ESOL certificate to support your KOLL. so, as a degree-holder. it's not your case.

This link should help:
british-citizenship/may-2015-knowledge- ... t#p1182894
- it discusses the option of submitting a printout from the points-based calculator.

Similarly, see:
