New to the site and wondering about a EEA family permit

Post by stefania73 » Tue May 10, 2011 11:49 am

Hi,

I am very new to the site and I am just wondering if anyone in here ever applied for a EEA family permit for their American spouses. I am originally Italian living in the UK for many years and married to a American citizen for almost 2 years. We are in the process of making this application but would like to hear from others that maybe went trough the same experience.

As far as I understand we can do the application online, or send the application at the New York office. What about biometric informations? I do not understand if there is a fee to pay or not.
Also at the moment we are currently both working, I am self employed here in the UK but also receiving housing benefits. As far as I understand one should apply for the visa as long as she or he doesn't get any assistance from the government right?
Also as documents for financial support from myself can I just give evidence of what I have in my bank account each months? I was reading that one can give evidence of the income earned each months (going back up to 6 month).

I would really appreciate if someone could give me some tips/infos on this matter.

Thanks very much

If your husband is in the US, he can apply online (more convenient)

No, there isn't a fee. However, keep this is mind:

"He should not mail any part of his visa application to the UK Border Agency until he has attended the Application Support Center and provided biometric data and obtained the receipt."
