I am in US currently and would like to apply for Tier 1 (General). I see that Bachelors is the minimum education (I have bunch of PGD along with Bachelors) in this category, so I guess am OK and also I am sending my docs for evaluation so they can assess.

My concern is , do we need to be in US until entire process is completed ?
Do we have to go to UK Immediately after process is completed ?
Can we work in any occupation in UK ?
How long can we stay in UK with Tier 1 ?

No longer so. The minimum is now Masters. So if you don't have Masters you cannot succeed.

First of all, sorry to say. Master level education is the minimum requirement to apply for Tier 1 General.

Do we need to be in US until entire process is completed ?

[I think you should stay in US so that you can get to know what is going on with your application as you probably will give the US address for correspondence.]

Do we have to go to UK Immediately after process is completed ?

[No, You can go whenever you want in your given time period, which will be initially 3 yrs]

Can we work in any occupation in UK ?

[Yes, you can work in any occupation. But make sure you do good in your last year so that you can extend your visa (Tier 1 Extension)]

How long can we stay in UK with Tier 1 ?

[3 years and it can be extended for 2 more years]

The change took effect only on 1 April 2009. Click here and in the first series of bullet points, read the third one, namely :-

tighten new criteria against which highly skilled migrants seeking entry to the United Kingdom are judged, by raising the qualifications and salary required for tier 1 (General) of the PBS to a Master's degree and a minimum salary of £20,000.

Other possibilities? Do you have any particular skills that might be in short supply in the UK? If so, what?

Any particular reason why you want to work in the UK?
