House - Sell vs. Rent, when Tier 2 ICT visa expires

Post by pinaki » Thu Aug 17, 2017 8:51 am

Hello, I bought a house in UK with help of a residential mortgage. I am in UK under a Tier 2 ICT visa which expires in 2021. Would I need to sell the house when I leave UK (i.e. become a non-resident) or can I keep the house, change my mortgage to a buy-to-let, and let out the property? as I plan to apply for another visa and return to UK after completion of the 12 months mandatory cooling period.

Thanks!

PS. I hold an Indian passport.

Not an immigration query. Up to your mortgage provider.

No rule that you must have a valid visa to own property in the UK. You will have to abide by the tax requirements on Renata income though.
