This is an area for the discussion of matters related to issues about moving from one country to another. Examples could be about money transfer, moving and packing, validity of driving licence, etc..
It is not a general non-immigration, free-for-all area.

My friend had posted her BRP (student visa) as an identification proof to the DVLA for her provisional license, totally forgetting that she needs the BRP to move to a tier 2 general visa and needs to apply for that soon (student visa expires in the next 7 days). She has done her online application but needs her BRP to book an appointment. Is there any way she can get the BRP back by cancelling her provisional license application? The DVLA helpdesk are not very helpful here.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing you can do really.
Before you send a document to the DVLA, make sure you don't need it a couple of days later.
The only hope I can give you is that the DVLA is very quick on using and returning these documents. Often during the same week they are back to you.
