is NHS FREE for Overseas students?

Post by hamid84 » Sun Mar 09, 2008 1:30 pm

Hi,

I would like to know if NHS is free for overseas student. My wife is in UK on student Visa and now pregenent. Baby is due in April so i was wondering to know if we will have to pay any sort of hospital charges?

Nurse told us that everything is free during pregnency.

Any further advice?

It depends on how long your wife's visa is for. If it was for less than 6 months, then only emergency treatment is covered (see http://www.ljmu.ac.uk/partnership/Summe ... dical_Care ). If she is here longer, than I believe full NHS treatment is covered.

Will she be returning to studying after the baby arrives?
