Post by TryllZ » Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:37 am

Hi All,

For the non-EEA Join Family (Spouse) can anyone please confirm the below..

1) Are sponsor's bank e-statements acceptable or they must be stamped by the bank
2) Does the sponsor have to explain large withdrawals/deposits

Thank You

I can't be certain that my circumstances match yours but for a naturalisation application the statements _can_ be electronic/pdf as they have in any event to be scanned in to a PDF file and filed electronically. I just took the pdfs from the banks etc plus some scanned other documents and combined them into one file.

It didn't stop them mis-reading the file and asking for copies of statements that they already had of course!

The key things to look out for are a) is your address shown? and b) Is there any statement in the instructions that you are following that require them to be in some way attested (ie certified copies, certified by An Garda Siochána etc). Unless they are asking for originals it seems unlikely that you will have a problem with documents provided e.g. as pdfs.

Goodness knows almost no institutions provide statements by post these days!

Thanks for the reply, mine is for Join Family Non-EEA..

I understand it might just be estatements but wanted to check if anyone was asked stamped/certified copies from the bank because the defacto asks for certified bank copies even from the sponsor's bank..
A detailed statement of your sponsor’s bank accounts covering a six month period immediately prior to your application.

On the face of it that does appear to be more onerous than the naturalisation (marriage to an Irish citizen) requirements that I am looking at. It appears to be asking for explanation rather than just statements per se - so annotated with e.g. Salary A, Salary B, Rent, Car, Childcare etc to ensure that the sponsor meets some financial standing criteria - I can't help with that I am afraid.
