I'm an american citizen who is married to a german citizen and residing in USA. I have two little children who are also german citizens with german passports. Can i apply for a EEA family member permit and and come over to the UK without my husband and stay with a friend while I look for work?

U need to enter with or join ur EEA nation husband in the Uk.

It may be possible on the basis of the (German) children but then you won't be allowed to work.

Is your hubby planning to relocate to the UK any time soon? If so, then best to hold off until he does to make things easier.
