Non EU family member. EEA FP

Post by Xavier24 » Sun Mar 08, 2020 5:15 pm

Hi everyone,

My partner (Mauritian) and I (Dutch/Mauritian) are planning on entering into a civil partnership in the Netherlands this summer. After this we want to apply for the EEA family permit to move to the UK.

We have been living together in Mauritius for the past year, though we have no proof of this.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this: will the short time between registering our partnership in the Netherlands and applying for the EEA FP become an issue? We have sufficient proof that we are in fact in a genuine relationship (pictures, text messages, plane tickets, passport stamps from almost 2 years).

The main reason why we cannot enter in any form of legal relationship before this summer is that Mauritius does not accept same-sex partnerships.

Many thanks in advance for any comments🙂.

With immigration in the UK, it's simple: proof or it didn't happen. Anything you cannot demonstrate, won't be considered during your application.

The time should be fine but don't delay much later than this Summer.
