Hi,

I am a Norwegian citizen. Norway comes in EEA. I wish to live and work in Germany. Do I need any visa?

No. Apply for a 'FreizÃ¼gigkeitsbescheinigung' within 3 months after arrival.

haha, what a word man, that frei......Anyhow, thanks. But what does that mean?

One more thing, could I get any economic benefits from social welfare system until I find myself a job?

It's the equivalent of the 'oppholdskort'.

I doubt it. The basic conditions are that you can support yourself. Recourse to the welfare system would obviously mean that you can't.

But with freedom of movement, even for Norwegians, isn't PR redundant? Like if I as a Brit move to Germany, I have PR throughout the EU?

Or is Norway etc not being full EU different?

PR only after 5 years (though member states can make it shorter if they wish so). That means that before you'll have to be able to support yourself (and possibly also need comprehensive sickness insurance). After that you are essentially on par with citizens of that member state and can also make use of the welfare system to the full extent.
