Is EC not the same as a visa

Post by hopefulkd » Tue Jul 20, 2004 9:17 am

I think I am confused. What is the difference between the visa that is stamped at the British Embassy after the HSMP is approved at the Home Office and the Entry clearance? Are they not the same?

My visa has been stamped at the British Embassy here in Nigeria after my HSMP was approved at the home office (I filled form VAF1 2003). Is there anything else I should do? Is it not the same as the EC?

Hopeful

EC (Entry Clearance) and Visa are the same thing.

On arrival at the PoE (port of entry), the IO will stamp your ppt to 'validate/commence' your stay in the UK.

This should all be straight forward unless there is reason to suspect that you wrognfully obtained the Visa, or you are not the rightful holder of the visa.

Entry can be denied if you have a communicable disease such as TB. In addition if the IO believes that your entry to the UK may be detrimental to the security of the country, then the IO has powers to revoke the Visa....

Any how everythging should be OK...just bring some NAIRAs for me 8)

Thanks friends. This forum has been of tremendous help to people like us.

I'll bring some Naira for you Chess. I hope it'd be useful? :D

Thanks raoms. I saw your response in "is it normal".

Can you please give a helping hand on finding a job too?

I am a Software Developer with primary development environment being java. I am also very much at home with Visual Basic6.0. I have over 5 years of experience with both tools.

What other advice do you have for me as per settling down?

Speak soon since I should be living in the next couple of weeks.
