Not travelling to UK in 12 months after Tier1 Visa

Post by sandeep_mkt » Mon Aug 01, 2011 5:18 am

Tier 1 Visa Issued: 1st Feb 2011
Tier 1 Visa Expiry-31st Han 2013

I am not able to visit UK even 6 months after my Tier1 visa was granted. And will be able to visit only after 6 months. So in total I would be delayed by 12 months after my Visa issuance date. Still I will be able to show 12 months of employment when I need to get the visa renewed.

Since the Visa is renewed with proof of employment for 12 months, I would like to know if there are any risks involved in not travelling to UK till 12 months after the Visais issued.

The reason for getting delayed for UK travel is that I was blessed with a baby in April 2011, and cannot move to UK till Nov 2011 at least.

Please give your comments.

You will be allowed to travel a year after your visa was issued. You seem confident that you will land in the UK and immediately find a job though? Usually it takes a few months to find a job, so remember to factor that in too.

There is also a consultation out to limit settlement, however, as it stands at the moment, it may not affect, you, but please keep an eye on any developments.

Thanks for the response. Though not confident but am trying my level best to work out the same and feel that I should be able to hit a job by Nov '11. Plan is to get a job and then move. Is that too much to ask for? How much scenario will change if I go there and search vis a vis if i search from here? I am into international marketing and do not find enough openings.

As per others experience on this board, it will be difficult securing a job before you move (not saying that it's impossible, but just difficult).

Generally recruiters will not arrange telephone interviews - they like to know that you can get over to the company in person. I didn't have a problem arranging interviews when I wasn't in the UK, but they were all scheduled to be after my arrival date.

Thanks again. I understand what you are saying.

So I should try to be there in the UK land to start appplying for a UK job seriously. Alternatively, I should fix a date say Nov starting...and mention in my cover note this date so that companies contact me then. Hope this should be a better strategy.

Will keep this advice in mind.

Regards,
Sandeep

I am also late by 15 months to enter to UK from Tier-1 issue date. I am planning to travel in this month.

I have mailed UK VFS center and they replied that i can travel any time but need to convince immigration officer.

Please let me know what i have to convince. Is it like the reason for my delay that i have to convince

or

convince immigration officer that i can find job soon in UK.

In case immigration officer asks for reason for delay, what is the convincing answer he/she will be looking for.

The most convincing answer is probably the truth.

Just let them know that you are over to find a job and do what you would do with your Tier 1 visa. The one difficulty I just also thought about is that many (but not all) employers will have a problem employing someone with a visa that will expire so soon.

Hi Sravan, you normally get a 2 yrs UK Tier1 Visa to start with. So ow is it that you are delayed by 15 months in Aug 2011 and still have time till May 2013. That meand you got a 3 years Tier 1 Visa. Is this the renewal Tier 1 visa you are talking about? So that means you have already treavelled and worked in UK during the 1st 2 yrs tenure of your UK via?

OK Cool. I did not know that they also provide 3 yrs Visa, I thought it was 2 yrs for everyone in the 1st go and extension is by 3 yrs.

One more thing, did you find a job there or are still on the lookout? I need some valid ids of consultants there whom i can approach for Marketing related jobs. By any chance could you share it, please.

All the best for your Wife's dependant visa.

Hi Sandeep,

I uploaded in www.jobsite.co.uk and applying everyday. I am getting replies like below:
1. "Client require UK commercial experience",
2. "At this point of time we are unable to process, but retaining your profile. Will keep you posted",
3. "We received lots of applications, If you have not heard from us within 7 days please assume that unfortunately on this occasion you have not been successful.

I think we need to be in UK for the interview calls. My friends in UK say we can easily get contract jobs within 2 months after arriving there. I have to try my luck.

I am only worried about the convincing immigration officer.

Can anyone let me know the FAQs by immigration officer for the late entry people by 15 months like me.

regards
Sravan

Dont worry

Post by KumarSpore » Fri Aug 05, 2011 3:21 pm

Immigration officer will only ask you some questions to understand your situation. There is no hard rule for you to be sent back.
So dont worry about the questions from Immigration officer.

I travelled after 2months. They asked me: 1) Have I got any job yet? 2) Or are there any interviews lined up. Thats it.

You can explain the reason to them on delay in coming to UK. Convince them that you are confident in getting a job soon.

But you should earn a min of 35k or more pounds(depends on points) before your extension.

I entered 2+ years after getting Tier 1 visa and with less than a year left of my visa!! Immigration officer won't hassle you, just tell him/her the truth. They are more concerned about the biometric matching, visa validity, dates etc. You can enter even a week before your visa is due to expire, take in the sights of London and leave UK before your visa expires :)

all the best
