OCI application with RC receipt only?

Post by jacksavvy » Thu Jan 18, 2024 10:19 am

Hello All,

I had read it in one of the topics on here that somebody managed to submit the OCI application without actually, physically receiving and attaching the Renunciation Certificate.

I had my RC application done in early November at VFS Goswell, London and since then there has been no response OR status change OR any indication of me receiving the RC soon.

I have managed to complete the OCI application online upto the point wherein I have to upload the relevant documentation and submit the form.

Now, my question is this - Has anybody submitted and moved ahead with their OCI application whereby submitting only the RC application RECEIPT instead of the certificate itself along with other documentation. By RECEIPT I mean, the physical payment receipt which states what the payment is for (i.e Renunciation). Would that help to get the OCI application move along atleast?

No, it won't proceed.

What you are suggesting is equivalent to applying for British passport after submitting and paying your AN1 naturalisation form. Won't happen.

Your renunciation needs to be recorded on the Indian records to recognise you as a foreigner. Till not done, you are an Indian on the system.

I know the technicalities mean you have lost your citizenship as soon as you took foreign one, but this needs to be recorded properly.
