OCI for British citizen

Post by amushah7 » Thu Nov 20, 2008 9:25 pm

Hi,

My mother holds UK passport. she had acquired british citizenship by birth. She has lived in UK for one year. she had worked in UK and paid tax for 6 months. Now she is in india on 5 years multiple Indian tourist visa. She wants to apply for OCI as she needs to visit india frequently and her length of stay in india is 15 months or so. I am sure she is eligible to get OCI. I have doubts whether british authorities shall have any objections on holding OCI? After getting OCI, will she get pension credits or other benefits in UK?? Will OCI stamp on her british passport create hurdles on her claiming benefits in UK??

Please advice me on this.
Thanks in anticipation.

In general terms citizenship of another country in whatever form shouldn't affect her rights in the UK.

And OCI is arguably not even a "citizenship," (although the Home Office think that it is).
