OCI for British Passport holder born in India

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could advise me as I am about to apply for an OCI card.

I was born in India, and came to the UK when I was 7 (I'm mid 40's now).

I came on my mothers Indian passport, so did not have my own Indian passport, however, I do have my original Indian birth certificate.

I have had a British passport as far back as I can remember, I think it was because my father had a British passport, so I guess my was given based on his one.

My question is whether having an Indian birth certificate is enough for my application? Or do I need more or anything else?

original birth certificate should be fine for OCI but most likely you also need to submit an affidavit stating that you never held an indian passport and traveled on mother's passport.

do you have a copy of your mother's old passport?
