OCI or PIO for 48 year old?

OCI or PIO for 48 year old?

Hi

My brother would like to apply for a OCI for the first time but heard that he will need to have it re-issue it when he is 50. He is 48 years old now.
So is it worth just waiting till he is 50 or better going for the PIO now which appear to have no age rules.

perhaps wait for couple of months - both these routes will be merged and it's likely some sort of announcement will be made at the PBD
