Please can anybody let me know if it is alright to let the maintenance fund account balance fall below 2800 GBP when my application is being considered ?

Thanks,

I would recommend you to keep the amount in the account till you get the Visa in Hand. There is every chance that case worker will verify that do you have to sufficient balance. So as it is just a matter of 1 or 2 months more, keep it.

Hi Sushil...that sounds scary! How on earth will they verify my bank account details at the airport ? By making me use netbanking ? Do you
know of any such incident ?

I know of somebody that was 'pulled over' at the air port, and only after calling her current employers and getter her salary info, did they let her into the UK. - She didn't enter with a Tier 1 though, and just entered for a holiday, and they didn't think she was going to return. But if it can happen to her, I think that it can happen to us.

I am going to take the papers from my bank regarding my Forex (UK Pound) purchase with me to the air port. If they do have queries regarding my maintenance funds, this should be enough proof.

I heard that some agencies tell you that you have to take your bank statements with you to the air port - that will be impossible for me, as I am planning to close my account in my home country, and take every thing I have with me in pounds. I did receive my visa, and haven't had 2,800 pounds for a while now. But hopefully, if I sell my car, I should be able to get by.

That said, I know many many people that start spending their money after approval. Many people live off credit cards while maintaining money in their account, and when approved, they start repaying debts. I don't know if they get to the UK without any problems, but I think many people is in this situation.

I would say this concern is totally baseless.

Now, if the application is not straightforward and later if BHC/immigration finds it out , then you are in trouble. For several of my visits I've seen/ had the experience of immigration officer asking about how much money do you have to live there?

However, it is highly essential for you to carry copies of all the docs u submitted to get the visa. When it comes to money part, no one would ask you to count the money in front of them nor login to your net banking.

So it is indeed a good idea to keep the money in bank till atleast you get your visa only.

This is totally baseless. You are not allowed to carry any amount of money that you wish to. According to RBI rules, a person can carry macimum of USD2000 or 1000GBP at a time.
I have not heard of any such cases where immigration authorities will ask for proof of maintenace funds for Tier 1 visa holders. This is more applicable for visitors.
I am in U.K on Tier 1. When I landed here, they did ask me if I had a recent X-ray report. I said no. that's it. I didn't carry any other documents.
