Hi there,

I am from Colombia and I just finished a MSc Computer Communications & Networks in Leeds, UK. What I want to do now is to find a job here in the UK. I know that there are so many obstacles to beat in the process to get a good job here (WP, find the company, filed etc)on my current situation (non-EU citizen) but for this reason I want to open this topic, to invite people who is or had been in similar situation to share information that can be useful to all of us. For example I would like to hear names of companies that had been involved in the process to obtain WP for IT professionals . Is logical that if one company have done it one time (apply for the WP) that means that knows the process and is likely to do it again.

Mauricio,

There are many threads about this subject in this forum. For example: "UK recruitment prospects" has many posts and there are other threads as well. Let me say that at least you are ahead in the game as you are already in the UK and can attend interviews without having to travel over an ocean. Take a look at these websites: www.jobserve.co.uk and www.jobsite.co.uk I have found them to be the best of the bunch. Do you have any experience to add to your degree? A believe some is necessary to qualify for a work permit. Sybersolve and Oxygenonline are firms that specialise in sponsorships. The trick is to get the job as it is only then that the employer can apply for the WP

Hi

I think it is an obvious point that it is going to be more difficult to find a job if the employer needs to apply for a work permit to employ you in the UK. Employers will need to show good reasons for wishing to employ you rather than an EU Citizen.

One company we are closely involved with is Sybersolve who regularly apply for work permits to employ IT people.
