I was told that recently the in-country WP application process has changed. Last time the DFEE made a decision and sent my employer a letter. I then took this letter to the PCU in Croydon with my passport and recived a new stamp. I was told that now the passport has to be submitted together with the WP application and will be stampted by the DFEE and this takes over a month. Is this the case? If so is it possible to still do it the old way?

Cheers,

Mark

Thank you for your email.

Yes - the passport of the work permit applicant can be sent to the Home Office with the work permit application.

Presently the passports are being endorsed within a month of the application being lodged.

We wouldn't recommend that you go to the PCU office - as there is no gurarntee that the Home Office staff will deal with your application.

Please contact me to discuss this matter further.

Does this apply to the W1X work permit renewal applications as well? I do not like the idea of loosing the ability to travel for at least a month. The old system of getting the passport stampted at the PCU suited me much better.
