I am in the UK on a student visa and about to complete a masters degree in business. I've sent my CV to several agencies, and they all said I was well qualified but could not help me get a job since most companies look for candidates with a work permit already.

Can anyone offer some advice as to how to find an employer willing to sponsor a work permit? Any alternatives to this?

Thanks in advance,
Michaela

The only "workaround" is to apply directly to companies and hope one of them is willing to sponsor you.

Whats your nationality? Residents of certain countries qualify for a work permit like a working holiday visa etc. This can help you get your foot in the door.

The Home Office is undergoing a review of whether or not agencies should be allowed to apply for workpermits instead of just end employers. This would help a lot with the chicken and egg scenario that many face. Workpermits UK is inviting views on the matter until 14 June. Here's the contact information:

Machaela,

Do whatever you do but do not pay anyone for getting you a work permit. Especially there is a company called Oxygen Online and thats a fraud. Stay away from them.
