Do I follow the same process as a UK national resident in the UK who wishes to bring this person to the UK as their spouse/fiancee or is there a different process ? |

kiwinyc Member Member # 251 | Posted September 02, 2002 04:44 PM um... i believe there's a different procedure for EU citizens - it's much easier. You have to obtain a Residence Permit, and then your Spouse has to get an EEA Family Permit which is similar to the Spouse visa which allows them to enter the U.K. They then should apply for their own residence permit, which lasts longer than the Family Permit and confers the same rights you have to live and work in the UK and allows them to enter and leave as necessary. The detailed info is at: http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/default.asp?pageID=138 |
kiwinyc Member Member # 251 | Posted September 02, 2002 04:48 PM upon reflection, its probably not easier at all! have not been through direct experience with this one myself, I married a UK citizen rather than an EU/EAA citizen... good luck! |
EuroCitizen Member Member # 2023 | Posted September 02, 2002 07:51 PM Apply for your own residence permit if you don't have one already...then download the "Spouse of a EEA National" form from the Home Office site and fill it it. Mail it with your spouse's and your passport as well as with your residence permit to the Home Office. Last time I checked there wasn't even a fee. It's pretty straight forward. |
